Participatory monitoring for quality utility services in Gyumri

The Gyumri municipality allocates considerable financial resources for improvement of the utility services in the city, in particular the garbage collection and street lighting, but still  the population is not satisfied with the quality of the services.

“Compass” research, training and consultancy center NGO initiated  “Participatory monitoring for quality utility services in Gyumri” project that aims to develop the garbage collection and street lighting spheres in Gyumri and ensure transparency through implementation of participatory monitoring, identification of field problems and presentation of alternative solutions by the citizens and civil society organizations.

As a result of the project: 

  • In all  districts of Gyumri there will be monitoring groups who will monitor the garbage collection and street lighting spheres.
  • Availability of comprehensive research on the above mentioned spheres with participation of CSOs, citizens and local government bodies.
  • Recommendation package developed by different stakeholders with development and improvement suggestions.
  • Local government will adopt and use the suggestions.
  • Public awareness will be raised regarding the above mentioned spheres.
  • Contribution to the development of demanding and informed civil society.
